the Simplicity of Frozen Berries and a Sigh

Some days in my life go by in a blink of an eye. I don't know where time went or what I did with it.

Today however, something happened in me. I cannot pin point what, but I started to notice things differently.

I woke up to a lovely post from Sarah. When someone I admire so much says such kind things about me, it affects me. I appreciate it and never, never take it for granted. Then I had a few other encounters, happy accidents, even found sweet Pia on Twitter. Things that made my day.

Finally, these berries. I took them out of the freezer and as they started to come to temperature, I realized how beautiful they really are. Not staged, no styling intentions here, just plain frozen berries. Then, I sighed.

The berries are lovely! I understand hectic days that can seem purposeless and I'm so glad you found some friendliness and happy validation today! God works in wonderful ways and helps us when we need Him most.

Have a wonderful, lovely, peaceful, fulfilling day!

Isn't it funny how we spend so much time combining ingredients, perfecting cooking techniques, and scouring recipes to come up with something remarkable to eat? We're always forgetting the the perfection in the simplicity of unaltered whole food right from the source.
Good to see that you appreciate the simple things!

Lovely palette of colours - I'm such a fan of your photography. It's so pleasing when the food cooperates.

Can't tell you how nice it was to read this post; an escape from complexist and verbosity was exactly what I needed today.

Take care of yourself!

Beautiful photos! I too just froze about 20lbs of raspberries I recently picked. Nothing like pulling those frozen berries out in the dark winter months.

I'm sure you are bombarded with compliments. And rightly so. The way you express yourself through cooking, photography, presentation...it's truly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. You are one of those people who makes things more beautiful just by being present. Sounds corny but I cannot explain to you how much of a "spiritual experience" it is to visit your blog. I sense your calm in the words you write and I'm transported to a quiet place through your photography. I just wanted you to know. And I wanted to thank you. As a blogger, I know the amount of time and energy it takes to create beautiful things and find the time to share/post them. I sincerely appreciate your blog...your posts...your perspective on things and your love of organic. You have an amazing gift. I always leave completely inspired. Thank you.

I wake up every morning with a long list of tasks that will inevitably be left half finished by the end of another short day. Sometimes it's nice to take a day for yourself, to be just a little bit overly-sentimental, and enjoy the beauty in something so simple as a bowl of berries. Today, for me, it was the joy of the crisp morning breeze thats been absent in some bouts of humidity lately....Now I keep a journal by my beside. I admit it is full of cheesy motivational words I write for myself, but it helps me appreciate what I get done in one day, as opposed to what goes left undone...

Me encanta el blog desde que me enseño una amiga, y no podía creer cuando adiviné que eres vasca! Mi familia y yo nos vamos o mover a Donostia este otoño, y seguro que te voy a seguir todo el tiempo que estemos allá.

Oh, and yay for summer simplicity. Same thing happened to me this weekend with some leftover tomatoes (see blog).

Just found your blog - it's so beautiful!
Not just the recipes are delicious, the photos are as well.
And i love this post and these moments like the one you wrote about - when all of a sudden, we become conscious, or, more awake, and we see sth. in a new light. Like, when we had a cold and couldn't taste anything, and all of a sudden, taste comes back!
Thanks for sharing.
