This year I had so many wonderful people come through the studio to teach and to learn. The collaborate spirit fuels me. Now I am very excited to announce that award-winning duo Sara and Hugh Forte of Sprouted KItchen will be teaching a 2-day food styling and photography workshop in my studio in Seattle on April 11 and 12.

They write and photograph one of the most respected food blogs. Their first book has the perfect combination of healthful, delicious and texture-filled recipes with photography that is warm, emotional, full of movement. And now their second book will be launching in March 2015. Hope you can join us!

WHEN: April 11 & 12, 2015.

WHERE: Aran’s studio in Seattle

WHAT: This is a 2-day workshop where you will learn about Hugh and Sara’s philosophy on storytelling through food styling and photography. You will watch Hugh and Sara work on a shoot from beginning to end and practice under their guidance – from food styling techniques, camera basics, how to manipulate natural light and lots of post-processing tips. We will share discussions in finding your voice in both words and visuals and wrap up with a walk through historic Pike Place Market where you will learn how to capture the environment around food and procure ingredients for a photo shoot.
Lunch and snacks are included.
Transportation to and from Seattle and lodging are not included.

Sara Forte fell in love with food by way of experience on an organic farm while at school in San Luis Obispo. She followed that passion to Italy to work at a bed-and-breakfast and olive oil farm, worked for a few caterers, markets and is now the produce focused chef and author of food blog and James Beard nominated cookbook, The Sprouted Kitchen. As a health focused, produce enthusiast, she is driven to share approachable, whole foods focused recipes that are accessible for the everyday home cook. Her work has been featured in Oprah, Martha Stewart Whole Living, Rachel Ray, Sunset, InStyle, Redbook, Food and Wine and Bon Appetite. The blog has been a winner in Saveur magazines Best Food Blog Awards for both Best Original Recipes and Best Photography. Sara currently does freelance recipe development, small catering events and works as a personal chef. Hugh and Sara live with their son Curran in Southern California.

Hugh Forte is a photographer whose work was started through traveling and wanting to document personal, beautiful moments playing out in the world around him. While his primary focus is wedding and lifestyle photography, he created Sprouted Kitchen as a gift to Sara so they would have a creative outlet to work on together. With an attraction towards light, color and texture, Hugh’s eye is the perfect match for Sara’s fresh cooking style. While photography is both his profession and his passion, Hugh’s dream day consists of reading books, fun waves, perfecting an excellent cup of coffee and making his son laugh.
