Studio 207 – My new creative space and upcoming classes

EDOC4900LAran Goyoaga studio in Seattle | Cannelle et Vanille

First of all, I apologize for the number of announcements this week. I suppose I am trying to get all in the information out before we all retreat to our families and cozy cocoons for the next couple of weeks.

And I am so excited to share today….

I have always dreamt of having my own creative space where I can retreat to work.

A raw space with little distractions and decorations. A peaceful corner.

When I arrived in Seattle, I made finding a studio space a priority. I searched high and low in the city until I stumbled upon studio 207 at 2315 Western Ave. I couldn’t believe it. I found it and it was there for me to take. Talk about being at the right place at the right time.

I have waited to tell you about it until I was finally moved in, but that never happens, does it? So although there is still work to be done, I wanted to share some images with you and also let you know about all the upcoming workshops and classes I will be hosting in it.

I have been working away in the studio making it a place I go to everyday. Jon and Miren love spending time there. “Can we go to the studio and paint?” Miren asks. Jon has already left me some of his Lego creations.

My goal is to use it for my own work but to also push for a space to share and create with other artists. I will be hosting workshops and some dinners – both taught by me and other friends.

In fact, I am LAUNCHING A NEW SHOP where you will be able to see upcoming workshops and dinners. It is live now and you can visit here.

The winter and spring session classes are up and I am so excited to have other people join me in this endeavors.

Jan. 26, 2014. Jenn Elliott-Blake and I are teaming up to create a PNW-inspired winter cooking class followed by dinner. My gluten-free recipes and her styling. Should be pretty magical.

Feb. 8-9, 2014. Husband and wife team Ashley & Gabe Rodriguez of Not Without Salt will be teaching a 2-day food photography workshop where they will share all their tricks and philosophy. Really excited about this.

March 29, 2014. Prop stylist Chelsea Fuss of Frolic and I will be teaming up for a food photography and prop styling workshop where we will walk you through the whole process of creating a food and prop set for an editorial story.

May 17, 2014. Chelsea Fuss will return for a masterclass in floral design where she will take students to the historic Pike Place market to gather seasonal flowers and create natural arrangements with her beautiful aesthetic.

You can register and purchase tickets ON THE SHOP.

I have been cooking away in the studio. It is conducive to it (despite the microscopic refrigerator I have right now). I feel right at home.

My friends have been coming and going and there have been lots of impromptu lunches and coffee dates. Below are the images of one of those get togethers taken by my friend Dorothee Brand.

So sad that I am going to JUST miss your March workshop! Was hoping you would be hosting a workshop in March Aran, as I am coming to Seattle with my husband who is doing a distilling course 17-21th …I was thinking of emailing you to see if you had anything planned, but didn’t want to be impatient or impolite! Oh well. Would still be lovely to meet you if you are free during that week. I’d love to see your studio. Perhaps, you would do a one-on-one with me? I know, longshot. Let me know.
Congratulations on your move + your new studio…and warm holiday wishes to you!

Such a wonderful departure – congrats and good luck with the new venture(s)! I am the wrong side of the ‘Pond’ to ever join you in this amazing light-filled space (so envious of all the white and brightness), but will be hanging out on your new virtual spaces to glean inspiration as ever. Well done; it’s a bright future in 2014 for you all! Love the idea of the children painting and lego building there. My floor strewn with Lego too – at 11 yrs, my son is a huge fan (even though life is dominated by screens, good ol’ Lego has it’s space too!). All the best Aran…

    Hi Aran,

Your studio is just lovely! A friend of mine pointed it out to me yesterday.

I’m planning to open a similar type venue here in Vancouver, BC, as I’m seeing a need for a space where nutritionists, chefs, photographers, and other entrepreneurs can rent an intimate and cozy space centred around the kitchen. You put into words exactly how I want it to feel, “a peaceful corner”.

This has given me a much-needed boost of confidence. Perhaps I could host you for a workshop in the future! (That is, if you have any desire to visit Vancouver!) :)
